La Oja made Sofie’s Birthday an enjoyable one.

Young Sofie, celebrated her 9th birthday on Friday the 13th 2012. Sofie is the dauhter of Mark and Kristen Shaffer. Kristen is the Assistant Community Liaison Officer at the U.S. Embassy Bogota. It was a pleasure for us at La Oja to do the  Henna tattos for Sofie and her friends at the party. As soon I entered the party hall all the kids encircled me to get a henna tattoo. They were all so excited that  to put some order to the kayos we had to give them numbers so they could come in turn. We also had Indian dance performances by Marcela Londoño, Nicole Morris and Alexander Ossa, which kept all the kids entertained. The dancers got the children to dancing and thought them a few Indian dance moves. La Oja also made lil Indian purses, which were filled with Indian bracelets that were  given to all the children as takeaways. The purses were in bright Indian colours – Electric Blue, Green and Orange. The party was indeed an enjoyable one. We are sure Sofie will never forget her 9th birthday in Bogota.

Below are some pictures:

This is what Kristen had to say, “Rochelle…I want to thank you for your fabulous coordination and participation in my daughter’s 9th birthday party.  Meeting you at a previous event in December and experiencing the henna tattoo gave me the idea of how wonderful it might be to have you and perhaps some dancers come to perform at her party.  From that idea sprang one of the most memorable and magical parties we have ever experienced!  The dancers were dressed in the most beautiful costumes and jewelry.  The music, so different and interesting peaked their interest right away.  The dance lesson was such a great way of getting them into the mix and experience a different culture.  Your henna artistry was fantastic and very popular with the girls!  What a wonderful party!  Thank you again for sharing your recommendations and expertise!  It was fantastic!”
